The Stones of Saint Stephen’s: A Church and its Architecture
There was a drinks reception and lecture on the history of St Stephen’s Church – ‘The Stones of Saint Stephen’s: A Church and its Architecture’ on the evening of Wednesday 22nd June 2016 – in aid of our ‘St Stephen’s Roof Appeal’. The illustrated lecture was given by Adrian Barlow and it explored the history of the Church through its architecture, sculpture and stained glass. The evening provided an opportunity to support the St Stephen’s Roof Appeal.
The Saint Stephen’s Roof Appeal is raising vital funds (in excess of £120,000) to safeguard and repair the beautiful grade II* listed Church. Urgent works have been identified in a recent five-year Quinquennial Inspection Report and will include the replacement of thousands of roof tiles, a complete overhaul of the rainwater system, and seriously damaged downpipe, re-pointing and much more.
